Pulsation Dampeners

Pulsation Dampeners: These dampeners are also called hydropneumatic accumulators. These devices prevent shock and water hammers, not by suppressing them, but by alleviating the conditions that cause them. They providing a chamber of sufficient volume to allow an extension of time in which a given flow may be accelerated or decelerated without a sudden large change in pressure. This chamber generally contains a separator member which prevents the escape a pre-filled compressed inert gas.
