Project Description:
SPEC delivered a new manufacturing facility for Applied Biosystems in Bedford, MA. Ground breaking took place in the fall of 2002 with startup and turnover in the 3rd Quarter of 2003. This Greenfield project provides the owner with the ability to manufacture multiple product lines and comply with cGMP’s. Batch records are generated via the Delta V control system giving the owner with the flexibility to accommodate multiple batches and comply with customer and regulatory agency documentation requirements.
Project Highlights:
- Open book, guaranteed maximum price contract.
- Performance based criteria for measurement of project completion.
- 30,000 sq. ft. single story high bay base building including 5,000 sq.ft. high-hazard classification area and an additional 9,000 sq. ft. of equipment penthouse, and space for office and QA/QC functions.
- Process utilities including RO/DI, plant air, 4° C & -20° C glycol systems, vacuum & high vacuum.
- Waste treatment and hazardous waste storage areas and underground fire water containment system.
- Bulk solvent storage tank farm with solvent metering and truck unloading systems.
- S88 compliant Delta V batch control system.
